While the roots for GE Oil & Gas are in Florence Italy – Houston Texas was chosen for their Western Hemisphere headquarters. GE is a company that has grown over the past 10 years by acquisition in addition to substantial organic growth. The Architect for GE presented a uniquely warm and modern design to make this a unique and inviting space. The finish palate utilizes a two tone cherry wood veneer and marble accents using cross-cut and honed Travertine accented with dark emperador polished marble.
Entering the first level reception, the dual veneer desk is set on the cross cut travertine and features a ¾” thick tempered glass transaction counter suspended above the veneer with stainless steel mounts. Floating against a backdrop of polished Italian stucco is a veneer wall panel with wood reveals, featuring the GE logo mounted to the surface. Facing the seating area is a long curved millwork marketing credenza capped with dark emperador marble.
In the main conference room Acacia fabricated and installed a wood veneer table that seats 22, the leather covered built-in side seating, the wall unit housing the AV gear that powers the room and all the other various cabinets and wall panels. The table itself is artfully and carefully detailed with fixed microphones and opening ports for access to power, data, AV, and controls.
Finish details of veneer and marble were carried into the servery adjacent to the main conference room that provides meals for all day meetings and doubles as the coffee bar for that end of the floor.
