Summary

The Millwork Design Engineer – CAD/CAM is a technically skilled, detail-oriented, expedient contributor focused on designing, engineering and releasing custom product solutions using CAD and CAM technologies, specifically Autodesk Inventor.

This role is responsible for developing efficient, manufacturable designs and releasing them accurately and on time for production.

The ideal candidate combines creative problem-solving, a deep understanding of millwork engineering and manufacturing processes, and the ability to implement digital engineering systems that enhance our speed, quality, and scalability.

This position reports to the Engineering Manager at Acacia.

  • Develop and release custom millwork product designs using Autodesk Inventor and other CAD/CAM tools.
  • Work collaboratively with project management and production to ensure product solutions are manufacturable, cost-effective, and meet project timelines.
  • Create and maintain Inventor templates, libraries, and parametric models to improve engineering efficiency.
  • Deploy and refine engineering systems and digital workflows that improve speed, quality, and scalability of our design-to-release process.
  • Support the transition from design to production by generating shop-ready drawings, parts lists, and CNC-ready data.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in engineering tools, documentation, and manufacturing integration.
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards, client specifications, and industry best practices.
  • Participate in technical reviews and provide input on product feasibility, manufacturing methods, and installation requirements.
  • Maintain quality in engineering designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company quality benchmarks.
  • Proficiency and expert level knowledge in Autodesk Inventor including CAM integration, or CNC programming systems in the millwork or store fixture or fast paced, high complexity interior furnishings industry.
  • Minimum of 5 years of work as detailer or engineer in the millwork or associated interior furnishings industry, understanding in great detail the construction methods, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a CAD/CAM-focused engineering role, preferably within the millwork, store fixture, or furniture industry.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Experience with document control systems and version management for engineering data.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to develop innovative solutions under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across departments.
  • Technical curiosity and a desire to improve systems and workflows.
